Are you a B-A-C?

“Are you a BAC?”

What does it mean to say, “I am a Christian?”

Are you a B-A-C?

This is a question we need to ask each other for many reasons!

We need to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith!

We need to examine others to see if they are in the faith! (We see in their fruit)

We need to examine our church if it is lead and fellowshipped by and with BAC?

OK, now some of you are hopefully wondering what a BAC is?

A BAC is a BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!  I’m thinking about designing a T-shirt with this question on the front and some other ideas on the back!

We may ask someone if they are a Christian and get a multi-paged answer!  But ask people if they are a Born Again Christian and they will be limited in their answer, it is more specific!

What would you say?  This morning if I started randomly asking people to answer before the church if they are a BAC, how many would squirm in their seats and be thinking don’t pick me!  But we should not feel this way!  We should always have an answer for the hope that we have within us!

1 Peter 3:15

"But in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you"

This morning you will hear what a BAC is and hopefully God will convict you one way or another of your present position, in or not in Christ!  May this be your appointed day of faithfully living for Jesus!  Let us pray that God will lead us to grow through His Holy Word this morning!  AMEN!  (Let us pray!)

ABC of faith… Admit- Believe- Commit!

This morning we are going to redefine this ABC with BAC!

To Admit and Believe and Commit are true and easy to remember!  But to be Born of the Spirit is to Believe, then Accepting the Gospel Message with true repentance Admitting you’re a sinner before Holy God needing Jesus as our Savior and Then Committing your life to Jesus as LORD and Confessing Jesus through our new life to the world is most accurate!

So let’s explore what it means to be a BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!

  • Born of the Spirit to Believe.  Conviction and Understanding are of God!

John 3:3

Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again

he cannot see the kingdom of God."

¨Belief is a gift of God!  (Rom 6:23; Eph 2:8)  We don’t pursue Him, He pursues us!  (Rom 3:10-12)  We are broken by the Holy Spirit and come running to God!  We are born of the Holy Spirit and it is a mystery!  John clearly shows us it is as the wind that has an effect but we can’t contain it, control its natural flow or predict its results with absolute accuracy!  Only God controls the wind and only God has control of His Spirit!  Belief is the outcome of being Born Again! (John 3:8)

When you ask some one if they are a Christian instead of if they are born again the response is many times… “I was Baptized!”

DANGER, DANGER, DANGER!  If ones hope rests on baptism they are not Born Again!  Being Born Again is trusting in what the Bible say’s we are to trust in!  Jesus Christ Alone!  Baptism is the beautiful symbol of being Born Again!  That the world may know that you belong to Jesus!

Now if someone say’s “Yes I am a Christian because I have been baptized by the Holy Spirit!”  This is much more accurate so long as they are not relying on Speaking in Tongues as their proof of being saved!

Baptized in the Spirit is for God to plunge you into Spiritual awareness of your state without Him!  So you run to Him with open arms!

  • Accepting the Gospel Message with true repentance.  When we are Born Again of the Holy Spirit we react to the Gospel Call!  We accept the message of the cross with a broken delightBroke because we have offended Holy God!  We sinned against Him!  We have no hope unless He alone makes me right with Him!  We delight in the gift of Salvation that God gives to all who believe and trust in Him.  How do we know one believes?  By our admitting through Spiritual conviction!

  • Admitting you are a sinner before Holy God needing Jesus as our Savior to pay our sin debt!  God’s Word has an effectual change in our mindset!  We admit to God we cannot save ourselves.  Jesus alone saves us from the consequences of sin, that is death and hell!

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death,

but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • Committing your life to Jesus as LORD.  My life change experience of the Holy Spirit changes my focus from Self-centered to a Christ-centered lifeview!  This is a continual life change!  Not an experience that I remember without a life-view change!  The change is continual through to eternity for the BAC!

Galatians 2:20

It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

  • Confessing Jesus through our new life to the world is most accurate!  We can’t forget that a changed life is a shared life!  People see it within you because it’s pouring out of you!  Your addicted to Jesus and it shows!

Romans 10:9-10

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  [10] For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

This past week I had a conversation with someone who said they were a private Christian!  Private Christian?  Were in the Bible do we find Private or secret agent Christians?  Let me save us time, No where!

Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  [15] Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Are you a BAC?

How does being Born Again effect life?

Especially Home and Church Family?

  1. Advance in ones relationship with Jesus and His people!
  2. Altered Worldview!
  3. Clear the way for others to know Jesus!
  4. Caring community of believers!  (Second Family)
  5. Family and Church are special, important and priority!

Being a BAC is more correctly stating who we are in Christ!

This morning can you say that you are a Born Again Christian?

If you can’t say this, this morning… I am going to pray for your soul this morning… that God will reveal Himself with such conviction that you know God is speaking directly to your heart… let us pray!
